It's the month of February! And nothing says you can't treat yourself and your loved ones to some chocolate outside of Valentine's Day...so go get yourself or a special someone that box of chocolates...SHAMELESSLY. We all deserve a little sweetness in our day, and heck, we need it a little extra with how crazy life has felt lately! This is why we asked you to share with us your most loved chocolates:
Daniel Chocolates – Vancouver, BC
"Daniel’s chocolate is beloved by people because everything he does adheres to purity. Daniel uses only pure natural ingredients like whipping cream and butter for our fillings – preservative free, no artificial colorings and flavors, no hydrogenated, vegetable and tropical fats, pure Belgian chocolate making techniques. And all that with pure dedication."
Hooray Truffles – Gibsons, B.C.
Kim and her daughter Alanna ignited their business through their shared passions of mindful eating, eating to live, and healing your body through whole foods, plant based living, organic and non-GMO. This shared vision came alive after they had gone through similar experiences of disordered eating, which they now support with annual donations to the Looking Glass Foundation. Through Alanna’s deep love of cooking, she went into health coaching. Through this love and knowledge, the recipe at Hooray Truffles was inspired!
Hot Chocolates – Courtenay, B.C.
Hot Chocolates story began in the early 1980s, in a small café on Denman Island. Mother and daughter, Deanna Stewart and Sherry Marshall-Bruce began making small batches of the chocolate truffles that started it all and were a huge hit!
In 1986, they moved to Courtenay, where they opened a little storefront downtown and the name Hot Chocolates was born. After purchasing the small shop, they found out that it was home to the Comox Valley’s first cappuccino machine, which brought in more loyal customers who inevitably fell in love with the Hot Chocolates truffle.
In 1992, Jorden Marshal has joined the team and has kept the dream alive following Sherry's death in 2010 and Deanna's in 2018. The team now has more than 30 dedicated employees!

Cocoa Barry supports "Cocoa Horizons" and "Forever Chocolate", programs implementing systemic changes in the cocoa industry. These include entrepreneurial farming (ie: farmer owned plantations), poverty reduction, training in agricultural best practices, deforestation and sustainability mandates. There is no magic pill for the industry, but like many facets of life as we know it, change is afoot."
